ARTIST SPOTLIGHTS & THINGS OF GENERAL IMPORTANCE
Their mission: To create heavy music and bestow it upon the world however and whenever possible. Their motto: Fuck the human race. Come to Grief has been around since 2014 in this form, but the musicians that make up this ridiculously heavy band are our sludge forefathers. Not only have they pioneered this metal sub-genre, they’ve also carried the torch without wavering from their identity or swaying from their original intents and purposes.
Come to Grief has shared with Blackseed that this was supposed to be the big year for them, coming off their latest release, a 3-song EP. Pray to the End was released in February on their own label, Grievance Records and like many, many bands, they were forced to cancel any plans of touring in support of the record. The band instead finished writing their next full-length album, When the World Dies. The band has been respecting the current distancing and quarantine guidelines and plan to record it in upcoming months with new bass player, Randy Larson (ex-Cable, ISIS) once things are hopefully safer.
When asked if there are any events the band has planned, they said that once they can get back to regular rehearsals, they want to do a live podcast of some new material to remind their fans that they’re still here for them. Guitarist Terry Savastano assures us,
"Despite world events, we're still active and pursuing what we believe in. See you out there someday.”
Slow, heavy, throbbing, soul-splitting, sludge doom with gnarly swinging riffs meet with calming, intricate guitar leads which serve only to pull you back into the despair with the never-dying pulse of toms and menacing cymbal hits. We can talk dirty all day but the only way to know is to listen. So go listen. Come to Grief. Thank us later.
