ARTIST SPOTLIGHTS & THINGS OF GENERAL IMPORTANCE
Pillärs makes their statement with fast-grinding riffs, slamming halts, and emotions clearly written on their sleeves. “Fuck around and find out”. They’re a great bill fit for doom, sludge, metal, and punk shows as they seem to crossover seamlessly to all that is good and heavy. The texture and musicality is what is refreshing in their sound and there is a lot here coming from a three-piece. The group formed in 2015 and have had a change-over in the members since then but one thing, fortunately, remains the same and that is that they are heavy as fuck. Their Molotov brand of sludge brings a surge of energy and a visceral sneer to whomever is second-guessing their cred or class.
Pillärs is currently writing their second LP and believe that they’ll be able to get to recording by spring. They’re focusing solely on this record and guitarist/vocalist Zach Germaniuk explains “the upcoming LP I think distills a certain sound that we started brushing up against on Abandoned but was a bit more fully grasped on the split EP with Wallcreeper. This time around with writing this second LP it's probably the sharpest and most direct it's ever been. This year has been so incredibly fucked, and a lot of truly ugly and evil things have been exposed or revealed, not just in our society generally, but in the subcultural worlds we find ourselves in too. Lashing out at all of that is going into this record.”
When asked what the band are looking forward to the most, we got a response from each of the three Pillärs:
