NEWS OF THE UNDYING

ARTIST SPOTLIGHTS & THINGS OF GENERAL IMPORTANCE

With song titles like The Séance, Black Magic, Burn Again, and Secrets of the Earth, the very essence of Brimstone Coven and all their vocally harmonious glory seep into our doom-laden humanity. After three all-out-bangers, the outfit have brought yet another supernaturally-charged album to our turntables this past summer. First appearing on iconic Metal Blade records, the group has self-released a couple of records between now and their 2020 release, “The Woes of a Mortal Earth”, on Ripple Music.

The 3-piece undeniably plays the music that they would like to hear, but that really translates into the dark occult rockers having a dark occult following. Watching the band live reveals their sheer enjoyment as they pretty much just rock out the entire time. A glimpse of the crowd at any one time always reveals one wave of heavy, head-nodding bliss. The secret to their success seems to be in their consistency.

You can find one riff in nearly any Brimstone Coven song that has been repeated and manipulated such that it becomes the entire song. It may sound simple, but it’s actually quite brilliant as it hypnotizes and the listeners become so drawn in that it could be easily unnoticed. Prominent themes in sound, lyrics, and album art assure fans that they are getting the Brimstone brand, and it’s refreshing in days where bands seem to try to find themselves with each record. Brimstone Coven knew who they were from day one.

We asked bassist and vocalist Andrew D’Cagna how he feels about the band at this point in time. He responded “I feel that Brimstone Coven has grown continually over the years into a darker place, both lyrically and musically. I couldn't be more pleased with the direction we are headed and cannot wait to see what the future holds for us.”

The band will begin writing their next record in the winter months and are due to celebrate their 10th anniversary. We wish them a heavy “Hail Satan!” and congratulations. Until then, you’ve got four albums to catch up on, so go ahead and join the coven!
